Secondary spring does the up shift. The stiffer the spring the longer it stays in low, and also faster back shifting when slowing down.

A stiffer spring will keep the revs up higher longer before the shives change position and change the effective gear ratio for the up shift, causing a harder acceleration.

You can look up Aaen Polaris web page and read about it.

THe secondary clutch senses the load on the wheels and upshifts and backshifts according.Stiffer spring and higher the setting the faster it backshifts. Also controls grip onthe belt along with various other things. But basicly it controls backshift.
