Default reeds??? - 400 sport

Do the reeds need to be changed every so often? I have a 94 sport 400l that has the same reeds that came with quad. I replaced the intake manifold/reed boot because it was torn and noticed the reeds were pretty black. Other posts said to change them if they were cracked or broken. Would it be a good idea to change them anyway? - the quad is all stock.

Thanks

I noticed on one side the reeds actually sit a little higher than the other side.
(One side rests flat against the cage and the other side is lifted a little)
Is this suppossed to be like that?

no it should close all the way. that pedal must be warn out.

when you say it sits higher does it leave a gap inbetween the pedal and cage. shine a flash light down there and check.

if its closing again its your call, if it were me I would replace them for preventative maintenance and peace of mind.

the boyeson replacements arn;t to expensive.

There is a noticable gap between the pedal and the cage on one whole side. Doesnt sit flush at all. I will go ahead and order some new ones.
They arent that expensive and it couldnt hurt.

Thanks for the info Conig.
