PREDATOR VS. 450R

I say the predator. But i think the 450r is a great quad. I have beat some 450r's that were piped and had paddles while mine is basically stock and w/o paddles. So it comes down to rider skill. Also i agree with spyder6....

When it comes to pure drag racing.....and drag ability.....the pred is by far the best option. After that, the 450r pretty much takes over....with its quick revving motor, and light weight chasis...it will win in about every other category. I know a guy who just switched from the pred to the 450r......for this years woods racing. Keep in mind though, some of his reason was becasue his pred was a Stage 3 built motor that loved to hunt trees!!!!

So from a "Never going to Aftermarket addons" point of view. Would it just come down to which dealer has the best price and which look appeals to you to be the deciding factor.
What about longevity. I went with honda for my quads but I am wanting something a bit more fun than my 350 rancher.

I'd say if you are going to keep them both stock......then you need to consider your riding style to choose. The pred would be more towards trail riding, and rec riding.......and the r being more for racing. The pred will be more comfortable for the trail rider. Also, keep in mind that polaris is offering some great warrentary(spelling?) offers.....and when it comes down to it, I think the pred is cheaper, and comes with more aftermarket item. Honda and Polaris pretty much have the same rep now-a-days for reliability.

All depends on what you plan to do which is better. The Pred, like Brad said, is better for drag racing from what I have seen. After that, the R's weight is a huge difference in everything else. I just got a new R because I race XC, a pred is good for that too, but the weight is a problem. Some will say, well, Smiley finished 4th in GNCC, yeah, well, if you know him, he is a BIG boy, much bigger than the other riders, so the size of the pred fits him better.
For a just trail riding bike, the Pred is AWESOME, I love it, but for racing, I had to go with the R.

Troyer.......mind explaining to me what made you choose the 450r over the yfz and the ltz450??? I might be making this move here soon(within a year or so possibly) and was just wondering what made you choose which bike.

I think they have put out a "drawing" and possibly a prototype......but they are definately part-owners of KTM.....so I'm willing to bet it will happen soon. I'm also hoping, with this....that Polaris will get into the dirtbike industy FINALLY!! ----not sure if I'd buy one from Polaris anyway....but ya never know.....and with ktm helping build it....I'd be more convinced it might fly better....than a "sportsman" indestructible dirtbike.
