700 efi fan runs in COLD temps?
has anyone experienced the fan running in really cold temps? last weekend i went ice fishing and it was well below 0 i noticed the fan was running periodically. no warning lights, but it seems that if this thing gets that hot in cold temps, whats gonna happen in the summer?
i bought the 04 700 efi used about a month ago and have already had the radiator out and cleaned completely with the fan removed. it was plugged solid. i used a mix of dish soap and water to soak it and an air hose to blow it clean. this had to be done about a dozen times on both sides to get it clean, but it worked without bending the fins. (quite a messy job)
anyways, just wondering if this is normal?

I posted something similar to this last week and got no responses. I experience the same thing and also wondered about the heat of summer. A friend of mine has a 2004 Sportsman 500H.O. and he said he added some RV or motorhome additive to the coolant that helps the coolant stay cooler. I haven't tried it myself yet. One thing you can do though if you are leaving the key on to let the fan run after shutting down is to start the machine back up after a bout a minute to recirculate the coolant and the fan will shut off in about 20 seconds time.

you will get used to the fan on the Polaris, it will cycle even in colder temps. don't worry about it over heating in the summer, the fan will just run a bit more. start to worry when you DON'T hear the fan. I have had mine for almost two years and use it year round for low speed chores at high rpm, towing several hundred pounds uphill in the hottes days of summer and have never had a problem. just be sure to use the recommended 0w-40 synthetic motor oil and change it along with the filter per the owner's manual guidelines, more often in cold weather. I do mine every 50 hours. I have been very happy with this stuff: https://www.amsoil.com/storefront/aff.aspx

most already know they can get the dealer price by becoming a preferred customer. even then it's a bit pricey after shipping and the extra charges, but I still think it's worth it. their labeling is a little corny but the products are excellent. Amsoil was the first 100% synthetic motor oil to meet the performance standards set by the American Petroleum Institute (API) back in 1972.
