How hard is it to install a Dayco Belt
#1
You guys that have installed the Dayco belts. How hard is it, do I need some special tools, do I need to buy a new gasket for the clutch cover? Any specifics will be helpful.

its the same as changing a polaris belt. no special tools needed. just basic like 3/8 or 10 mm socket w/ extenios i beleave. just pry the secondary clutch apart going back in forth and sperate the sheeves. slid the old off and new on same way. it will take a little strength.

You dont need to even pull the clutch apart. Once you get the cover off all you need to do is pull the top of the belt twards you and roll the clutch clockwise and the belt roll right off. To install it just put it on the primary and roll the belt on the top of the secondary in the same direction. Very simple.

You may want to scuff up the clutches with a wire brush before you put on the new belt to remove any glazing on the clutchs. The dealer recommended it and also the heel clicker kit also sayed the same. You don't want to get it real rough get a once over should be fine.

How much of the plastics did ya'll take off? Do ya'll just take the floorboard loose or did ya'll just go ahead and take the floorboards and fenders completely off?
