Waterproofing the airbox (Silicone saves the day again!!!)
#1
I have never been able to make the airbox lid on my Magnum seal up "WATERPROOF".Those 6 clips just wouldn't completely seal it down.It was water resistant but not water proof.Anyway I removed the factory rubber gasket and used EXCESS silicone in its place.Today I tested it and it is WATERPROOF.Bottom line is that the extra few inches the factory snorkel gives you above the air box lid is ineffective if you are leaking water at the lid...... The down side is it will take extra time to remove the lid for filter cleaning/change.

Hey Rhett, I once read about a guy making a gasket for the clutch cover by removing the old gasket and laying down a thick bead of silicone in its place. Then he greased the seal surface on the cover and put it back on. Once the silicone set up the result was a much better fitting seal and he could still remove the cover. That might be a better alternative to what you’ve done.
