If your belt does get wet, don't ever dry it by "take it easy puttin' around for a minute, then I can go again" you will destroy your belt because while your puttin around your wet belt is slipping, thus wearing down. As someone else mentioned, put it in neutral and throttle it up some. Don't over rev it. You'll be able to see water leaking back out of the belt housing snorkel. It only takes a minute or two. It's faster way to dry your belt and does less damage.

I had the dealer install an Erlandson clutch kit on my 99 Sportsman,he did'nt install the cover seal correctly, the belt got wet and slipped.I repaired it and never had a slip again.

I now own a 00 Xplorer 4x4,I have never had the belt even try to slip on me yet,and I have been thru a decent amount of water and mud.Slipping belts can be a factor on ANYONES quad if things are not sealed up correctly. My 00 is sealed up nicely and I can go anywhere any gear driven quad goes and further. My riding friends will testify to that,
Bill

2 feet? Ok, on my sp500 the belt breather is 27" high. So how would 2 feet do anything?
