Default So how is the scrambler??

Well, i dont have much experience with four wheelers but i have a few questions. My grandfather is looking to buy an atv for the farm he goes to a few times a year. I dont think he wants to spend more than $2500 on an atv. I know for this much if you look hard you can find a good deal. I have been looking and i found a 2001 scrambler 500 4x4 for sale. I think it would be really nice to get him a 4x4 because he does ride in snow and some good deep streams in the summer. The one i am looking at is a $2500.

Polaris Scrambler 500 2001 4x4

Red, Runs great. Just serviced. Ready to go. EMAILS WILL BE IGNORED
this is the ad.

How well will this machine work for him. I definatley want him to get an automatic. Also does anyone know how much this atv can pull. I doubt he will be pulling more than 500 pounds but im just curious. Also is the seat big enough for two people and how loud is this machine??

I have a 2000 scrambler 500 4x4 and love it! The machine has been very reliable to me. It should have PLENTY of power for your grandfather. seat is big enough for 2 people. It is not that load at all. $2500 sounds like a very good deal if its clean runs good and the owner did regular maintaince I would buy it {I paid $2500 for my 2000} its a very fun machine.
Good luck!
PS: If your looking for something for on the farm for your grandfather what about a 500 Sportsman??

The acceleration is maybe alittle slower than a 400ex..if you punch it. but whats nice about the automatic is you can control the power and go nice and slow if wanted. I hunt with mine alot and ride on trails with my son and it works great for that stuff. The machine sounds like any other 4-stroke motor, I don't think it's load at all. I had a 330 trailboss for a month sold it!
didn't have anywhere near the power the scrambler has.

For what your Grandfather is wanting to use it for the 330 TRailboss would be ideal. But if 4x4 is an issue look towards a small cc 4x4 like a 325 Magnum or 250Explorer.If he get s a 500 Scrambler for pulling much of a load he will smoke a belt.Plus the 500 has a lot of power and I would bet you would have it toren up before he gets to use it

ya i was kind of thinking that, i really dont want to get a 250. Maybe it is all in my head. I have a 250 dirtbike so i really cant see a powerful atv being only 250cc's.

Its only in 4x4 when you need it to be, otherwise its 2x4. The scrammy is an awesome machine. I have a Trailblazer 250 and think that its great but would really rather have a scrammy. Cant go wrong with it. If your riding 2 people you will want a rear rack. Other wise the 2nd person has nothing to hold on to.

Dont think the 250 Explorer doent have enough power to be fun and work.It has low/hi tranny where the Scrambler and TRailboss only have hi.
I am trying to keep you and gramps happy with a quad. Not all old folks are like me and like to go ***** to the wall
