used 800efi as 1000km on it and its has a nock in it at idle runs great. Dose someone know what is wrong

Is the knocking sound coming from the right side floorboard area? If so, I would guess that it is the waterpump. I had a 05 700efi and put 3000 miles on it and it had the same knock from day one and I didn't have one problem with it.

 

I'm with you on that knock being no problem. Have an 02 700 and 06 800 and both make the same noise (knocking) comming off the lower right floor board area. Just lets you know its still working right.

 

why would the water pump be knocking? all it is, is an impella turning water around. is the bearing bad in them?

 

I don't think it is the waterpump itself, but the gears in on the right side of the engines. Not a knocking sound as much as its just enging noise.

 

would it be valve noice or maybe cam chain being loose?

 

stendori does yours make a noise that you can tell. My 700 and 800 have always made the same noise and I guess I never worry. I work at a pretty large polaris dealer and our head atv tech said its just those gears in their at idle. I don't think its valve noise or cam chain as its a push rod engine.

 

Just looked at the microfich online and only saw 3 gears on the right side of the engine for the waterpump, the cam, and the crank. I think they are all gear driven off the crank and thats what makes that noise at idle. I cant be sure though.

My 06 800 with 300 miles on it makes that knocking noise too , has since day one. Im told its normal.
