I have an 05 800, and my brother just bought an 06 800 I'm interested to see how much difference there is in the clutchs, to see how much better the weights help it out. still wondering if anyone else has had problems with the on demand 4x4?

Thanks for all that info, Al. Great info!
So far, I haven't had any major problems with mine. I had some bolts rattle loose on the header heat shield, and another time I spent a good 1/2 hour disassembling the pod to trace & test wiring......all because I didn't realize that Polaris machines' handlebar kill switches override the key switch!!! That's what I get for riding Jap machines my whole life!!
I don't have that much time on mine though, due to my 60 hr work week. It spends alot of time sitting, especially this time of year -- I HATE winter!! I have about 245 miles & 27 hrs. on it now. But, the battery is still good, unlike the batteries in my old Kawi v-force and a DRZ400S that I used to own. In both those machines the batteries would get pretty weak after just a couple weeks of sitting. Just proves to me that smaller & lighter isn't always better!

I am new here but have been around for a while on other forums.. But I have a good list of performance parts on my 800..
My bike is snorkled, and I have a K&N, Heelclicker clutch kit, Power Commander, WileyCo True Dual Exhaust.. All of these make great power.. The bike is very responsive and is super fun to ride..

I added 6 degrees timeing advance, opened up air flow, added dobeck fuel box and engine ice. Then I had to do something w/ the clutch because the rev limiter would hit befor traction started. Added Heel Clicker clutch via another web site, see justplainAl, now can lead an 03 Predator w/PP- White pipe through 40 mph on grass, some bare dirt. bob................... and thats at a 500# disadvantage

Oh Thank you I needed a good laugh today
I want to get ride of this 800 sportsman I just bought, I sold my 03 Grizzly, because I liked the Idea of the EFI which is great to have, but the 800 is one sloppy handling machine, compared to the Grizzly.
The rear end bounces all over the place and it feeels like its getting out of control from me, the dealer says I may to light for it, I weigh 185 lbs, who knows???
I cant wait for the Grizzly to come out with EFI, I will be trading this thing in with out a doubt!!!!
The Grizzly, was like having my ***** beneath me, I hope I can say that here
good luck with the Polaris, I hate mine!!!

Ive never had the feeling the rear end was bouncing all over the place . but i can say that when i first got my 800 it seemed awfully tippy which ive since gotten used to.

Mine stays fairly planted when hitting whoops at speed. If you try to hit them without slowing down (like your on a sport quad that's 300lbs. lighter), the rear end will get a little busy.
Jeff, I had to get used to mine too. Coming off a KFX700, it was a HUGE transformation for me!
Now that I'm used to it, I haul *** with the rest of 'em!!
