Radiator Fan running all the time or not
Hello everyone! This may sound like a stupid question but I am still a newbie. The fan on my 1997 magnum doesn't run all the time. I am just curious if it is suppose to or not. I am assuming it is but don't know. Just wonding if I should be digging into the wiring or say screw it and wire it to the battery so I can get it running the way it should be. The problem is when I drive it to plow after it heats up it starts leaking antifreeze from the top of the radiator and today I ran it in the garage long enough that it heated up and the dang fan never ran.
Thanks for the help.

there is a sending unit that tells the fan when to come on , it threads into the back of the radiator, take it out and put it in a pan of water on the stove, heat it to 180 and see if it has continuity,if it does it works if not you need a new one, you can also check the thermostat in the same manner. I have a 97 425 and the fan rarely comes on, is it pushing antifreeze past the cap? Maybe it needs a new cap.

Farmboy you may be able to repair the radiator with some good solder, flux and a mapgas tourch. YOu should be able to use 95/5 solider on the raidator but you need to get it good and clean and get the area where you need to fix good and hot. I'v done it a bunch of times. If you have some good 50/50 or pure lead you can get away with a propane torch.
