Default 700 EFI questions.

Hello, I have been reading the posts on this forum for about 6 months now and there seems to be some very inteligent people answering some of the questions here. Now its time for me to try to get help from you all. Here is what I have.

'05 sp 700 efi, 800 intake, pipe and white bros. muffler. 27" maxxis big horns on type 6 alum wheels.

Now heres my questions.

1. My top end is only 57 mph. It was the same before and after the exhaust pipe and intake change. I took it to the dealer after reading what some of you guys were getting and they checked the clutch adjustment, installed a new belt, and confirmed it came with the correct cdi from the factory. I have never ran it with the original tires as the dealer installed the 27s". The bike has all kinds of low end and seems to run great. Any ideas? I have been considering installing a 800 primary or heel kicker, whats yall's input?

2. Does a 800 fan pull more air? I was riding in the mountains near tuscon last week and it seemed to run a little warm.

3. I would like to wire the fan to continue to run even with the switch off if its warm. I know this would be simple to do, I am just wondering if anyone has done this and can save me some time. Thanks.

buy more disks for your muffler, I have 9 in mine now and am gaining top end, will probably put more in after I ride it more.I lost top end when I put the pipe and muffler on,bought more disks and am slowly getting it back, love all the bottom end and am searching for a happy medium. As for the running hot, make sure to hose out the radiator regularly and put a half a can of water wetter in it, it makes a huge diff.I bought it at O'reiily's for like $4.00 a quart, put half in each machine and they run alot cooler. i lost a little with the bigger tires too.

My 05 700 efi fan runs all the time as well even up here in the north. Are you basing that it runs hot on the amount of time the fan runs or do you have a temp gage on it. I am thinking of adding a temp gage, is it easy to install?

Can anyone explain how (or why) water wetter works? And being from the "Show Me" state, has anyone documented a difference in engine temperature with a temp guage?

Inquiring minds want to know!

Thanks,
Steve

Water Wetter is a lubricant for the cooling system. It mixes with the water, and coates the inside of the cooling system, without insulating it. I could copy all the technical stuff from the website, but it basically lets the water move smoother in the engine, head, etc. Stops some of the tumbling and bubbles that cause hot spots. Also alters water to make it more efficient. Works best in plain water, without antifreeze, but do not try in cold climates.

I have documented this in my race cars. I race NHRA and IHRA stock eliminator class, and the 10.90 classes. I have ran just water, water with different ratios of antifreeze, and water wetter with just water, and water wetter with the ratios. In the stock eliminator cars, the temperature plays a big part in the jetting and HP, and you are racing heads up, in class. So this was cheap HP for me.

I would recommend it in anything you run, that has any type of heating problem. It works. I am in no way connected to them either, just have done the homework, and trying to help.

Good luck to all,

Ken

If your worried about heat got to an Evans coolant. Not sure if it is compatable. The air bubles in the post prior to this one are caused by the evaporation of coolant. Evans and water wetter raise the boil temp of the coolant and actualy reduce it thermal properties to make the coolant more stable at higher temps. Sounds weird I know raise the temp of the coolant to make the engine run cooler but it does becasue either product will help reduce the # of hot spots in your engine. I'll be honest here. I'm considering in becomming and Evans dealer. Water Wetter should help and is the cheaper avenue. I'd also sugest coating you exaust pipes with a creimic heat coating. This will cut down on some of the risidual heat under the seat and around the engine that may be casuing you Temp semsor to read high Coolant temps. It will also help you aftermarket pipe work better by providing hotter gasses.

Thanks for the tips guys. I will order more disks for my mufflfer today and pick up some water wetter as well. As for coating the exhaust, when I bought my pipe I sent it to Jet Hot and had them coat it with a 2400 degree "turbo" coating. It seems to work well as I have not melted any plastics with the new pipe.
