Default Leveling frontend of 700

Ist I'd like to say this is a great forum. I've been reading for hours and can tell some knowledgable folks are here. I didn't run across any subject that I'm having a problem with, so I thought I'd turn to you experts.

I need to level the frontend of my 04.5 700 sportsman, (non-efi). The right side is noticably lower than the left. I'm sure it's something the dealer did when I took it in for routine main. I asked them to stiffen up the suspention. Unfortunatly, I didn't notice this till after their 30 day warr. (shop building kept, unriden since service, my mistake not to look closer).

Thanks in advance guys....

Welcome to the connection Farmin247

It could be that one of the strut cartridges slid up the strut housing a little. Check and see if both of the strut cartridges are bottomed out in the housing on each side, there is a hole on the bottom of the strut housing. Re-torque the strut casting pinch bolt to 15 ft. lbs. and for the heck of it check the air pressure in the front tires. Also check the adjusters on the rear shocks to see if they are both on the same setting.

Good luck.

Thanks Andre, but not to sound stupid, (ok, I am on this) how do I check the adjusters on the rear shocks and check for the same setting?

There are notches on the adjusting collar. Just make sure the right collar is in the same position as the left one. If one is set higher than the other, it would put more pressure on the opposit front corner.

I myself have run into this on my 04.5 700 EFI... I had warranty, showed the dealer... and he changed the strut...
It still sagged on one side... My feelings are in the springs.. I have recently added the springs from the 800 to my 700 and added height along with a better feel. I must warn you though... The 800 springs seemed to be about an 1-2" taller than the stock..... They also went on very hard... I found it easier to remove the cv boots drop the A-Arm and pull the spline shaft to make it easier to install the new springs.... But I was more than happy with the results.....
