I would check the switch on top of the transmission. When u put the trans in gear hi, low or reverse a switch on the trans must complete the circuit. Move the gear shifter from neutral to reverse to see which switch is the reverse one.

i am having the same problem. how did you fix the no 4x4 in reverse? i sure could use some advise. thanks for any input

it still doesent work for me but i think it is in the speedometer

 

If the 4X4 works in Hi or Lo but not reverse, the problem is not the speedometer.

Try this test:
Turn key on, motor does not need to be running.
Put trans in Hi or Lo, does the AWD light go on? May be hard to see in the sun light.
Put trans in reverse and push override button, does the AWD light go on?

Do you have a DVM and know how to use it?

 

already did that..........awd light does not come on in reverse

 

Sippy, do you have a volt meter or a 12 volt test light?

 

heres the deal i got mine fixed. i got so mad trying all the electrical but getting nowhere that i pulled the front gear box right out and sure enough the roller bearing holder was broke and cracked. after many hours and 325.00 cdn it is fixed. so check the gear box. thanks for the suggestions and help.

 

but how would i still have awd in forwards then????


i have now used a volt meter to test anyhing on the 4 wheeler i would but i dont know what wires i need to test all i know is that when it is in gear and the gauge says "R" there is no awd light on above the throttle
