Here's a quick question for you clutch and sprocket gurus: I have a 4x4 Scram with HPD trail pipe, V-force, Uni and airbox mod + Roller.

I want to get a litle more top speed and higher revs from my Scram this weekend (need a quick-fix...have a score to settle with a friendly Shee...)Can I get different weights or primary spring to get more RPM's or will it just top out at the same point?

We were out climbing sand hills and my quad just didn't have the wheelspin to make it to the top of each hill.

Could I just add a tooth or two on the front sprocket? This would be to get some top end speed. How much could this add?

Thanks again guys!!!!

Watch out, you want 2 different things!!! Do you want to climb, or do you want to be fast? Well...fast...polaris fast
If you only want to climb almost like my shee, drop some teeth of the front sprocket (like 80-90 teeth at least), if you want to catch me add 10-20 teeth to the front sprocket.

Yes, if I leave the beginner safety throttle (opens the carbs only 1/1000th of normal), he will beat me. I've always ridden with the safety on, maybe I'll switch to 1/500th of the throttle...I'll probably still be ahead.

Or maybe I should simply put in 4th gear...it will be enough.

I am not sure of the helix. It is the one Olav, over at Aaen, suggests to most riders with the roller clutch set-up.

Your getting a bit cocky my friend. Just wait for the day that you see my Scram "whoosh" by that little Shee of yours. I predict it will be within the next few months.

Actually I was thinking of racing your speed machine in the snow this winter. Hmmmmmmmm......

Saturday we will have a little hare scramble. Lots of mud, hills, twisty trails. Ahhhh...I can picture it now:
"Scrambler finishes...Banshee stuck on muddy hill..." (I will have it on tape)

Good thing we ain't enemies! Ha Ha Ha! For those of you in here, this is friendly bashing amoung riding buddies. I think deep down inside Zorro suffers from "Polaris envy".

On a more serious note Zorro, w/ the mods that Xplor has, you had better at least be piped or you'll only get him in the top of 5th and 6th if that.

Xplor, I am no clutch guru. But I am gonna guess that the change in the helix will do it, b/c the helix has to do w/ what rpm range your quad will pull the hardest.

Quadbuster By my estimate Zorro has about 5 to 7 mph more than me. When we dragged on sand I got the holeshot but he caught up...I stayed close till the end though.(one bike lenght or two) On the hardpacked road last time I still got the holeshot but he passed me even quicker. He slowly got farther and farther away. Mine windeed out to fast. Damn fast that Shee...

Obviously this is only my version. I was in back so I saw at which rate he left me behind. I stand by my estimate. I still wonder how much faster porting and carb work could make my Scram go...

my fault! I thought you had the carb and head too. I looked back and noticed that you didnt mention it.

I just had the jug a little more than trail ported and the head shaved on my 00' 400 4x4. I have the delta 2, rcr pipe and the quadbuster airbox mod (totally gutted!) I have an HPD agg. clutch kit and oil inj. eliminator in the mail and working towards the 39 pwk. After that, HOpefully I can get off these steel wheels and titans. I have all stock steering components and suspension. (its ok i guess)
