Thanks Grizz and Magna, yea magna I add just like your buddy and Grizz no show of fouling or smoke either nor leaks....The quads are awsome....it"s just whe n I first asked this question months ago no one would tell me that theres doid too..lol.....My dealer even said they shouldnt untill a freind of mine that bought a 800 before me had a crank seperate and the guy thattore it down said it had a half a quart of oil at most in it..and I know this guy never pulled the dip stick out...The polaris oil after 42 hrs and little over 300 miles is dirty...theres no way id go 1000 miles on an oil change...and I promise ya no body takes any better of there stuff than I do...only mods on theses quads are a K&N air filter....I wonder if at 0w40 that the 0 weight on start up you could be losing a tad..what your thoughts on switching to 5w40....

Try the amsoil. It's less prone to vaporization loss than most of the major brand oils. I'll be running it after I finish my breakin. Remember the SP bikes have a CCV now and that pulls a vacume in the Crankcase. If the oil is prone to vaporization your going to loose some via the CCV and burn it up. You have 2 options. Remove the CCV and risk getting water in the CC or change oil brand. AMSOIL 0W40 is one top notch product. I put in in my sons 50cc honda and the bike starts faster, idles smoother and just seems to run better. Even runs better cold. That's proof enough for me the stuff is good. I can get the stuff at dealer cost and will be happy to pass the deals on to fourm members.

I have been around the 800's since they have come out.... I have used them from plowing snow to mowing lawn.... I have not run into the issue of oil usage yet.... One thing I can recommend is to change oil more frequently.... The 800's have been known to generate more heat.... The oil seems to take a beating....

I would recomend the AMsoil also. I have been running their synthetic 2 stroke oil in my ice augers and sleds and they run better than they did when new.
