Default ptx tires

i put on 54 miles today and decided i really dont like how these tires handle for my riding style. i dont know if its not enough air or what, but they seem to side roll alot more then my other tires. i'll try to put 7 psi in them instead of the 5 i have now. they do dig pretty good though.

That's a common complaint for those tires. I think it's also exacerbated by the weight and soft front springs. My buddy replaced his stock 2006 Sportsman 700 springs with MV7 springs......much better. He also got 26" Mudlite XTRs on Type 7 rims.......also much better.

one thing i noticed about my tires is that one of the front tires has 2 big (heavy) wheel weights. its funny only one of my tires is balanced. i didnt even know they did balancing. so are the mv7 front springs alot stiffer? i did notice that the front is really soft compared to my 500 i had.

Hey stendori how you been?

Sounds like you got out on the trails this week. I put about 50 miles on around the farm, because the atv park is closed.

About the tire issue. I liked the stock tires in a straight line run, but I poped both front beads this winter running across a plowed corn field. I put corn stalks right in between the tires and rims in front. Thats why I went with a tire that was wider than the rim in fron. I wanted more protection.

I buried my sp 800 three times this weekend in the mud, I ran out of tire, but never out of power.

[bHello Stendori. If you put 7 PSI in your tires, it will ride too stiff, and bounce you all over the place..... The dealer had put 7 PSI in the front and 5 PSI in the rear and Ive since reduced both to 4PSI. I like it much better. It now gives as good a ride as my 500 Sportsman. I guess it depends on where and what you are planning for riding. If I rode gravel roads all day, probably 7 PSI would be great in front. Let us know what you think after you increase your pressures.[/b]

hey will, and trail, im going to ride some more on these tires to fine tune them. part of the problem is me, im used to riding my 500 w/ raw hides (which i loved ) and the 800 has so much more power and i ride a little hard in some cases the radials seem to roll more. also the softer shocks seem to be alot differnt from the old 500 something takes getting used to i guess.the biggest thing is i dont really want to have to buy after market rims for the m.lites but dont want to have front end problems either. maybe when the ground firms up it will be differnt, will see.
