Backshift is how the clutch responds to deceleration of the engine, basicly puting a heavier seccondary spring in will take the power away from the wheels faster when you let off the throttle

You can think of backshifting being just like downshifting by changing the secondary spring or helix you can chnage how this works. A stiffer spring will upshift slower and backshift faster than a softer spring. (Too soft of a spring will not allow the machine to turn proper rpm it will up shift to fast and the quad will not be able to pull that particular cltuhc set-up and too stiff of a spring will turn more rpm it will keep the quad in alower gear which works good for hill, larger tires, mudding stuff like that) A steeper helix with upshift faster and backshift faster than a shallow helix too. There are other ways to control this with differnet weights designs too but it get really complicated form here. Most of the time you can use this as a tunning guide line but remeber the first rule is there is an exception to every rule. Let me know if you have any more ?'s
