Front & Rear Springs on an 06 Polaris Sportsman?
#1
I own a brand new 06 Polaris Sportsman 800 EFI LE with the 27" ITP's on 14" type 7 rims.
I am 6'2" and about 300lbs... add my beer and tools to the the rear rack and you get some major tire wear on the fenders...
I have not adjusted the rear collars yet....
I know this has been talked about? Has anyone tried the X2 springs in the rear?
Here is what I have done and should be testing tonight....
I ordered a set of the HD 140lb non-progressive springs for the rear....
My local dealer put the order in and called when they arrived last week....
I brought the shock assembly to him only to find he had only one in a box that stated 2 and it was the wrong one!
After some research and comparing springs.... I found the X2 spring to be a better solution...
130-150lb progressive spring.... Red.... but $60.00 each.... rather than $30.00 each for the HD....
I should have these tonight and will share my experience with them after install.
Thanks,
Jon

Last weekend I put EPIs heavy duty springs all the way around on my ’05 700 and on the front of my ’05 Ranger XP. In the process of doing the swap I couldn’t help but notice how similar EPIs front Sportsman springs were to the stock Ranger springs. On the bench, the stock Ranger springs were about 3/8” taller with the same number of coils and same top and bottom diameter but the spring steel was a few thousands thicker. Pressing down on each you could feel the stock Ranger springs were stiffer than the HD EPI Sportsman springs. It’ll be interesting to know how the Ranger springs work out for you.

Went for a ride last night! There is a big difference between the stock springs and the ranger springs on my o6 500 efi. Very little body roll. Slow tight turning was hindered a bit, however I do need to add some air pressure to my front tires. They do pick the front end up and look pretty aggressive. I think they will settle in nicely. Ride quality was great. I will post some pics later today.

The springs measured about an inch longer than stock and had a larger coil diameter....
My dealer had a heck of a time getting them compressed =...
Needless to say... we opted to put the stock springs back on a re-order the a different rear spring.
