If your speedo doesn't work, your AWD won't work. The speedo controls the low side of the AWD coil.
sportsman is right, if anything in your headlight pod is busted, that means wires, speedo, anything, something isnt going to work. and in your case, when the speedo dosnt work (and this is on all sportsmans) the 4x4 wont work. you need to get that fixed

I would check and make sure you have a positive wire at the speedo and also check the ground at the speedo connector, there are several wires however you should have 1 positive and 1 ground. If you hve oth of them working you need a speedo. That will fix you AWD most likely have seen this before on several Sportsman's.

If the speedo does not work it could be the Hall Effect sensor or the speedo. Most of the time it is the sensor.

Sell It! I am so done with Polaris have bought FOUR brand new Sportsmans over the last six years and am finally selling my last they suck!@!!!!!!!!!!!!!! King Quad is the WAY OUT AND BACK!!!!!!!!!!!! only true Polaris owners know what im talking about!!!!!!!!
