Default whats better?

Okay I know its a long way away but i thought this is a good time to start some research and start test riding etc. Okay so heres the scoop, I just got a killer payin job detailin cars this summer at the local Toyota dealer and i'm gonna be savin up my pays minus my ins. payment until the end of the summer when i will buy a quad can't wait..ok now i have always wanted a scrambler for as long as i can remember. I'm 17 will be 18 next month and i'm 6ft 207lbs. i am gonna be trail riding little bit of mud and alot of jumpin..but i really want a wheelie machine. I can't buy a manual tranny quad becuz i don't have the use of my left foot cuz 2 bones have grown together and fused..but nobody cares about that back to quads..is a 400 scrammy or 500 right for me..whats the diff between the 500 and the 500 HO and which is the easiest to wheelie. and right for my riding conditions. any and all input is valued very much..also whats that kfx 700 like is it better then a scrammy? and what years of scrammys should i avoid and what should i look for when lookin at these machines..also i have heard of piston problems on the 400's which years are they...thanks in advance once again i'm not in a great deal of hurry as i won't be purchasin until closer to september

ah! good man!

the Scrambler is an excellent choice, there are rumors going around that they will be re-designed for 2007, so don't start leaning to the KFX 700 just yet!

the Scrambler 400 is a 2-stroke bike. it came in 2 versions, 4x4 and 4x2. the scrambler 400's are very capable quads, a simple 'Exterminator' kit on a 400 can make over 75 horsepower.

the Scrambler 500 and 500 H.O.'s are 4-strokes. the H.O.'s have a different camshaft in them, and from the H.O. term obviously means more power. i belive the 500 H.O. motors make some 40 odd horse power. the 500 scramblers have always been 4x4.

the KFX 700 is one beast of a machine, very powerfull and very capable. considerably faster and easier to wheelie than the scrambler, but it lacks 4x4 capability. there is alot of aftermarket out for both machines, and 4-Stroke Tech makes a 850cc big-bore kit for the KFX. these are both very heavy machines and can get out of hand. these machines arnt really made for 'big air' small and light jumps mostly. there is a member on here who happend to get about 5 feet of air on his scrambler and ended up with a few plates and bolts in his wrist because of it. both are exceptional at wheelieing for an automatic quad, though the KFX 700 currently is better because of its larger powerband

and since your waiting till september, the 2007 Polaris line is usually released in late July and early August. The scrambler is hinted at being totaly redesigned and having the 800EFI motor crammed in it. thats just speculation though.

remember! 07 Polaris line!

Thanks spyder..ya i don't really think i'd get the kfx just cuz its alot of machine for only my second atv. I've had alot of toys but never really had enough money for an atv and my mom was against it and my dad is one of those if u can't pay for it urself then u don't need it..which i think is a great lesson. but my first atv was an 84 atc 200m and then a golf cart and a pocket bike and a dune buggy and a motorcycle and then a 91 trail boss 250. and now im really leanin on gettin a scrammy just cuz they look so damn good and perform so damn well! i don't know if i'm gonna be able to afford a brand new scrammy but that would be nice.. is the 2 stroke 400 better then the 4 stroke 500? i have heard alot of rebuild stories on the 400 but haven't heard any bad about the 500..the jumps i'll be doin wont get me 5 feet of air its just gonna be alot of trails..with some sort small engine mod would it make the scrammy wheelie any easier? thanks alot and keep givin me some info all u scrammy owners thanks again spyder

If i was in your shoes i would wait (i know waiting sucks) but if the 800 does happen to squeeze into the frame of the scrammy i might have to get my own hands on one!! as you probablly would want to as well

if not i definatly recommend a 500 HO which means more power lmao High Output actually with a larger crank valves and exhaust ports and piping

Well i'll be waiting until maybe sept hopefully a little earlier lol readin these forums and lookin thru mags is just makin me more and more eager to go ride but i'm toyless should i stay away from the 400 2 strokes then seeings as from what i've heard the 400s have weak pistons and i don't think i wanna buy one thats already got an aftermarket in it..just in case it wasn't broke in right..so we play the waiting game...the waiting game SUX i want a scrammy

2 strokes are born to boggy but 4 stroke is much mroe advanced... 2 stroke is also goin away next year making parts more expensive

i think the 500 scrammy will have plenty of power for you... about double the stock 250 you had
