Scrambler Reliability
#1
I am looking into buying an ATV and i was considering the Polaris scrambler 500 4x4 but when i went to look at a powersports store the guy said he sells alot of replacement parts for Polairis.so i wanted to know how the reliablility is on the scramblers and what years to look at,and avoid.

The Scramblers are just as good as any machine out there. And just like any of them you have to do the maintanance on them or you will be replacing alot of expensive parts.
I have had my Scrambler for 3 yrs and I have replaced brakes, tierod ends, chain sporcketsand tires. My sons Warrior we have put in a clutch, brakes, wheel bearings and a few other things. So you will have to work on any one you get.

It also depends on how hard you ride it. I have a Honda, two Polaris's and two Yamaha's. They all have to be maintained. My Scrambler is probaly the most reliable of them all. I would get pre 05 Scrambler because they have the Fox shock with resovoir in the rear

the 04's dont have the ressie
and i might look into selling mine sometime soon, i'm ready for a new quad, maybe a YFZ? idk yet, hopefully something will get worked out
but my scrambler has held up great, no engine problems at all, just replaced parts after normal wear

I have heard that too, but bought an 05 scrambler anyway. I just thought it was the best all round machine that fit what I was looking for. I have about 40 hours on it and have done all the required maintainence. My only beef with the machine was that the CVT belt got wet way to easy....Going 10 MPH though 8" deep puddles. In my opinion that should never happen. Anyway, it's an easy fix. There is an intake under the front left tire (while your sitting on the bike) I manually shoved some plactic tubing in the intake and ran the tube up under the handlebars, In my opinion a real amature fix...But It worked...the bike runs though water and mud like a champ now. My advice is go for it. Just keep up on the maintanence. Oh yeah, get a clutch kit put on it. It is a must!
