Default 03 sportsman 700 oil pressure problems

I have an 03 sportsman that will only run for about 5 seconds and then it blows the gasket out where the oil filter meets the block. The bike instantly shuts off and blows oil everywhere, has anyone had this problem before? It seems like either too much pressure is building up in the crankcase or something is wrong with the oil pump. Is there a vent for the crankcase?

did you change oil filter recently? if so i would try another filter. maybe its made wrong. if not has any thing else been done to the bike or is this something that just happened one day.

it blew out the old filter gasket so i put a new filter on and it instantly blew that one out too. i rode it all day saturday no problems brought it home and started it up in my garage and then it started doing this. there are no modifications made to it.

had the exact same thing on my 2003 700, go out and buy a fram filter it will solve your problem, the polaris one seems to bottom out before it is tight enough. maybe wrong taper on polaris fiter or filter bolt is too long?

I dont think that would be it with a polaris filter, although some brands are made with the treads on a concave surface others convex or flat.
Avoid fram get a wix, AC or Pure One.

check the breather/airbox.

Polaris first told us not to use the 3084963(325,330,500) filter in place of the 2540086 700 filter because of the bypass valve difference. After a while even aftermarket filters included it in their crossover. May be the difference that some have had problems on,plus also crank case breather problems could be another problem causing this if obstructed. Most plastic covers would warp and leak.

I did have some clogging in the crankcase breather hose which I cleaned. I started it again with the polaris 2540086 filter. But at the same time while I was at the dealer getting the filter . The parts guy recommended Yamaha 10-40 oil. I was running 5-30 oil. It seems only to blow the filter when the atv is cold. It has been in the single digits here lately. Maybe the oil is too thick? I have been thinking of running 0-40
