Default Hole in wheel

I got a rock between my wheel and caliper and it punched a hole about the size of a pencil eraser through it. The tire store says it cant be welded, why cant an aluminium wheel be welded? The hole is right in the middle on the inside of the wheel.

This is an ITP series six wheel.

Yes it can. You can weld on a wheel. Theres even reinforcement rings you weld on the lip of a wheel as well as some other things that require welding on whels. Theres no reason you can't weld a 1/4 inch hole up.

i beleave that all polaris wheels are either alum. or steel. and yes theres no reason you cant weld the alum. wheel as long as you have the right set up and gas.

Look for a shop that specializes in aloy car wheel repairs. there is one shop new Baltimire MD that will repair your wheel and ture it up for about 90 bucks. Any wheel can be repaired. It just might cost more than buying a new one.

For under 10 bucks you can put an iner tube in it. It will hurt the ride. If you real fast you might need it balanced.

A few years ago I had a set of tires on my truck that were 3 days old when I ran over a board with nails in it, it punch three holes into the side wall. The tire store guy said "you need a new tire! Can't be patched!" When I asked him to install a iner tube and balance it his jaw droped. $18.00 and is still on the truck.

You could take the wheel to an auto bodyshop. They can weld both aluminum and steel. Have them weld it and grind it smooth.
