The ole ATV is actin up on me...My 600 Sportsman sometimes doesn't go into 4x4 an if it does it then won't go in when its in reverse...(yes i am hitting the override)...I do understand how the system works with rpm range that it engages and slope and all that good stuff...i have heard of it not disengaging (my 500 has that prob sometimes)...if anyone has had this prob please describe your solotion...thanks for any help...

 

look at my thread sportsman and atp 4x4 not working in reverse or something its proably on page 3,4 in the forumns theres a checklist to go through that worked real good

 

my old xplorer 400 did the same thing,i found out that the switch in the shifter was shot...another thing to check is the shifter lever.theres 2 pin that allow it to move back and forth but not sideway...If one of the pin is broken the lever is free to move sideway and it will not activate the switch properly.i bought used one (lever and switch) thru my dealer for 1/3 of the retail price.Its worth the time to check it.
