I'm looking at a used 2000 325 cc trail boss for $1000.00
It rides ok and runsa nd starts fine.

Are there anything major to look for on this model?

Check for oil leaks in the oil lines coming off the oil cooler.

Machines around that year model has problems with the lines. Polaris had a recall on them. If you buy it let a dealer look at it and make sure the lines were upgraded.

 

Have nothing but good things to say about mine. Did have the oil line recall, but the fix was free. Mines been rode pretty hard and rolled twice.

On the front bumper (if it's still the original) is should say MacPherson Strut. If the decal isn't worn very much, that's a pretty good sign they haven't ridden it through much tall grass or weeds. (or small trees [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif[/img])
Look at the chain for missing orings, and sprockets for worn or missing teeth. Look at the a arms for bends, there isn't any protection on them, so they'll show a lot of wear if it's been ridden a lot. Check the handle bars for bends or leans, then the steering post for bends. If all looks good and runs well, I'd say that's a pretty good price. It is for this area anyway.

I rode it around a bit, rode ok not too responsive (Used to my 800) But should be fine for mu kids.
Not sure what to look for on that oil line is it easy to spot?
Also looks like it was stored outside the plastic is faded.

Look at the oil lines going from the engine to the oil cooler (looks like a radiator) and back again . The lines should be dry and look reinforced. The cooler should be clean of debris.

Check for those signs of wear and owner care like if the air filter is clean and ask him if he lubes it and how often? Is the chain adj. and do the brakes work? Lift it up on it's a$$ end and shake it side-to side. LOL Look under it.
