I am going to replace the in-line oil filter on my 2 stroke Scrambler and wonder if anyone has used a fuel filter as a replacement? Local dealer says you can do this, no local Polaris dealer by my house to get a Polaris brand oil filter and I want to change it before I do alot of trail ridding this week/weekend. Is there a big difference between in-line oil and fuel filters. Look identical to me.

Thanks for any help offered

Boy are you going to busy. Starting motor also.

Both the fuel and oil filters for my 96 were the same. Fuel is easy to replace . . . pull out and puch in. I was advised by the dealer to be careful not to airlock the oil line when repacing the oil filter. Guess what . . . the oil filter is still on the shelf . . . I didn't bother and will wait until I have to bring her in for something else.

It is fairly straightforward. Just don't forget to bleed the air out of the system! If it airlocks your motor is toast. Follow the mrocedure in the owners manual & if you need more details I'll see what I can do.
