Im not much a preditor person. But im pretty sure that the Troy Lee Edition Is more of a racing machine. It is already set up for racing better than the regular 500. If you plan on putting racing parts on it and making it a racing machine, i would definatley get the Troy lee edition because it already has some great parts on it that the regular preditor does not. For only about $300 more, you can have some great parts on the Troy Lee Edition.

the TLE is a really nice machine. it comes with Fox Podium X remote reservior shock front and rear (which are the same shocks Gust is running on his suzuki R450's rear end) They are AMAZING and are actually comperable to works or elkas. The TLE also features radial RAZRS which are really nice tires. they aren't as good for MX as the standard one's are, but they are lots better for GNCC type competition. The TLE also has a close ratio 4 speed with a big 5th overdrive, so you use the first 4 gears on the race track and 5th for smoking your buddies in long fields. overall i'd say the troy lee is DEFINATELY the way to go. it has so many more permium features than anything else on the market. The shocks alone are worth a $600+ price increase over the standard and like BdweiserRacing8 says it's only like 300 more...

These upgrades were only on '05 or newer TLE machines. Before that ('03-'04) they were basically the same as standards. Good luck, post back or PM for more information my groupd has 4 preds, an '03TLE, an '04Dale Ernhart Ed, and two 05's, one of which is a TLE the other is the Limetted Eddition, so i think i know a bit about how difference preds compare to each other You won't be sorry w/ your purchase!

The '04's and '03s were SLIGHTLY harder to wheely, having a longer swing arm. this resulted in slightly better control on the track, but less wheely ability. My LE can wheely in 5th gear if you pull up pretty hard and sit back. but it has a pipe. (stock it was able to do it in 4th VERY easily tho!) My friend's TLE can wheelie in 4th no problem and it is bone stock. The Ernhart Junior is a little harder to pull, and i dunno if i can do it in 4th or not, b/c the guy just bought it thursday and i haven't ridden it, except for a few laps around the field.

The only diffence between the STD and the Ernhart is that the Ernhart came w/ a cross country bumper and nerf bars. The '05 limited (which i have) is a wide ratio tranny, and came w/ Fox Podium Xs, an E-Series exhaust and aluminum bumpers. The '06 Limited is basically a TLE, but it comes with the white brothers exhaust and Maxxis iRAZR tires which are really nice.

lol thanks!

'05 limitteds have a "wide ratio tranny" which has different part numbers for the gears than any of the other trannys from any years... I'm working on GPSing each gear and backwards calculating the ratios. i love my tranny for wide open stuff, it gets away from pretty much anything else on the market. The '06 limetteds have the close box tho, you are correct. Which is also a great tranny, just for the tighter stuff more than the wide open stuff.

ScramblerXLE, just incase you dont post again in the other forum when you said you race the 450s and they were amazed how quick your preditor was...How fast does your preditor go anyways? I heard that they are one of the fastest stock 4 wheelers cuz of there 500cc engine

top speed on a factory Predator is about 74-76mph. But they accelerate LIGHTNING fast. I've taken down '05 YFZs in the straight line and on the track. (haven't raced an '06 yet. They might do a little better tho. Yes the predator is one of the fastest high performance machines, largely due to the 500cc motor. About the only thing that can consistantly beat one is the 700R raptor. Those things are wild, but i couldn't get one b/c i want to run in the four stroke class in cross country racing, where the limit is 525cc. Other than those, there really isn't anything on the market i fear on the track, trail, or in the straight line.

Example: Me and my 2 friends w/ predators are planning on racing in the Michigan XC circuit next season, (maybe a couple races this season just to get a feel for it). To practice, the other day we brush hogged a Grand-prix road course type of track into my dad's 30 acre corn field and started racing on it. There were some real long (1/4 mile) straights and some other tight s-curves that were so tight the preddy actually got down into 1st gear. Laps took around a minute and a half to complete. We ran some four lap races between the preds and the YFZ. I won 4 of the 5 of them, but what shocked me was how far ahead us two predator guys were! The TLE was my main competition, (and was in fact the only thing that ever passed me.) and that's exactly why we're going to start racing. i think everyone needs to see how fast these things really are.
