Default G-TECH ACCELEROMETER ?

Has anyone ever tried and accelerometer, such as the G-tech on thier quad? Just wondered if it would work to compare before/after modifications. It would be nice to have concrete evedence that the K&N filter, jet kit, clutch kit, exhaust...etc. actually did something for performance.

I used to modify my car and take it to the drag strip a fair bit. Some of my modifications made the car feel so much quicker and I would have bet $1000.00 that it was. However when I took it to the track it was no different or even slower than before. It's amazing how good advertising (K&N) and a loud exhaust can make your machine so much faster.

The g-tech is fairly inexpensive but I didn't know if it would give repeatable results with the vibrations present on an ATV.

Milk.

Why is that? The only ones that I have ever seen were plug and play. Didn't need to hook up to the OBDII to work. We used to use one all of the time. You had to make several consistant runs. We knocked the slowest and fastest off before averaging and would get fairly accurate figures to what we saw on the track.

Milkman, as far as use on the quad, I don't know. Like you said, I bet that the vibration would have an effect. I don't remember what all of the input variables were either. My brother still has one. We are supposed to go riding this weekend. If he still has it, I will try it out and let you know.

The g-tech does not require any input from OBDII (on board diagnostics). Some other brands of performance measurement tools do use the speed output information from the OBD port.

OBDII is on 1996 and new cars...I don't think that ATV's have gotten to the point of needing that much diagnostic information.

Lawdog - Thanks. That would be interesting to see if you can get somewhat repeatable results.
