carb popping

On the other hand, all older single cylinder 425s and some 500s can have cam problems. Newer cams have two oil holes on the exhaust lobe and larger supply holes where it comes in from the supply port to the cam.

if your only getting 80 lbs of compression then it could be because the cam is worn and not letting the valves do their job right. cams were a common thing in some of the bikes but i cant remeber which ones i read about.

Thanks! I've got a 99 scrambler 500 most post that I've read has been on the SP's. I went to partsland and there cam was over 200 for just a single cam it's not a V-twin. I read somewhere that the SP cam's where around 136. I tried to find a cam from hotcams. Is there anyone who makes a aftermarket cam for a scrambler or will a cam fro the SP HO fit. I'm going to pull the Carb again and take a little more time along with pulling off the shift link to make sure that it goes all the way into gear cause I think I've got two problems going on. Or maybe the cam just makes the engine that weak where it feels like it's starting off in third gear or the brake is applied. It will not even pull up into the back of a truck without a running start.
