Default sportsman rear rack

I flipped my sportsman400 this past eekend and crushed the rear rack I already bought the rack supports. I was going to buy the composite rack but can't find one cheap enough I have read wear some of you have made your own.
I have some 3/16" aluminum tread plate I was going to piece my rack together and trace it out on the tread plate cut it out and use that as my rack do you people think that it would be safe and also work.
Thanks in advance,
Victor

I think Sportsman70003 did that to his rear rack, looks tough.

There are quite a few rear racks up for bid on ebay.
