i had 1100 miles on my 500 and didnt have it rebuilt, however i did take the cover off and cleaned it. as far as driving lights goes it pretty straight forward wiring them oni beleave as long as your charging system will handle the extra load. my 2 cents worth

Hey thanks for your answers I appreciate it. So you just cleaned it didn't remove it from the machine? what did you do exactly. Brake wash or something similiar? I'm concerned about the extra load the lights will put on the system. I'm not real happy with the stock lights thought about doing the three light mod on it. Where abouts in Maine? I'm just North of you in New Brunswick . I'm 45 mins from Houlton Maine

im actually about 4 hrs below you. the clutch i took off and disassembled to clean it. take the cover off and schotch bright the weights and bushings to clean the belt dust off. youy can use compressed air to blow out the dust as well. as far as a cleaner or solvent i do not use any on the machine as it might have a bad effect on the working oif the clutch. dont want it to get into the bushing or weights where it can trap all the belt dust and gum up the clutch. what makes you think you need service or a rebuild for the clutch.

My dealer suggested I get it serviced....think he was just wanting to make a few bucks off me. It is working fine. I had a 2004 400 sportsman before this and put 2000 miles on it before a traded it and I never touched the clutch

it wouldnt hurt to pull the clutch cover off your self and blow out the dust at least and check your belt. pretty cheap insurance and easy to replace the belt thier instead on a trail.

Yes I think I'll do that tomorrow night before I ride on Saturday, you must be getting all this rain also...sucks. I'm going to post some picks you might be interested in. I have fabricated a few add ons to my 500 . I tiged together a rear rack that extends under and out behind my back seat. everyone that see's it says it is cool looks factory. I also have made a rad protector that some guys up here want me to build and sell I'm not interested in getting into that but other polaris guys might like to copy

You don't have to get the clutch serviced, especially since you only have 700 miles on it. You can just take the cover off and look at the belt and spray the clutches with compressed air if you want to check anything.
