Agreed, ftwflh. People are either too lazy or too busy to do it themselves, or learn how to do it either. In this day of fast food and convenience stores, it's just too easy to pay someone else to do the dirty work. I might do the same if I could afford it and could find someone who I felt confident would do the service taking the same pains with it that I would.
I do the maintenance on my, but why is it such a bad thing Fireslayer? It keeps a job for someone at least. I don't consider them lazy if they have the dealer do it. Maybe their son or daughter want to play catch, maybe his wife is sick and he doesn't have the time.....there might be a thousand reasons. Ftwflh is right...because they can...and people do pay it. I am not a dealer, nor know one personally, but why get mad at them for making money?

Okiedude,I in no way meant it that way. I guess you haven't seen many of my posts. I made my living as a full-time service tech for a large powersport and power equipment dealer for more than 20 years. I am now a full-time firefighter and still work 15-20 hours each week part-time for the dealership. When I said "too busy" that was what I meant. "Too busy " includes those family times you speak of. They are more important and definately a higher priority. I think you just misunderstood or either I just wasn't as clear as I should have been. I do still contend however that there are numerous people who are just too lazy to even try to help themselves, but then raise "you know what" at the dealer for charging them to do what they wouldn't even try to do themselves. Seen this several times firsthand over the years.

No problem Okiedude, I should have made myself clearer. We were on the same page. Just curious, as I've only passed through Oklahoma a couple of times; what types of terrain do you guys have there?

bottom line, if you want to play, you have to pay. i think that the dealer has so much overhead in thier bussiness that why they have to charge these high prices(even though i think its still way too high) to keep them going. remeber that the service in any dealership, wheather it be atv or car dealers is where they make the bulk of thier money to stay in bussiness. that said, i still think if your able and have the tools, time you should be at least doing your minor mantaince on your wheelers.

Eastern Oklahoma is sorta hilly and known as Green Country(Trees and such) We have ALOT of lakes here, while western Oklahoma is basically flat. Where we ride there are small mountain ranges(south eastern Oklahoma). Born here and love it except for the heat and humidity.
