Default X2 flooding issue

rdmtn I tried it per the owners manual...are they different from the service manual?

I took the quad back up to Taylor park this weekend. Let it idle for 1 min like the tech said. Shut it off and restarted the quad....same damn thing....I am wondering if some sensor is bad????

I think the service manual and owners manuals don't tell you to put it in nuetral. If you already tried in nuetral then you may have a problem. I haven't had a chance to check the manuals. When I do, I'll post. Try doing a search, thats what I did and someone here told me how to do it. You might find the exact post.

Cecil, what was it like around Taylor area last weekend? Much snow left up high or not?

Reason I ask is I am leaving early friday morning for 10 days at Pitkin. Ready to get out of this 104 degree with 25-35 mph wind weather and enjoy some cool country.

Cecil, are you still having problems?

I took mine back out to Pitkin from the 23 - 3rd. Did Hancock pass no problems. Once in the yard at the cabin my son went to move it and it started flooding. Tried doing the diagnostics on it then and could not get mine in diagnostic mode either.

After the first time I just got used to turning the key switch to the on position for a minute before starting and for the most part this works fine. Once though it didn't so I shut off and then turned key on let it set a little then started and let it idle for a while, still flooding. Finally got it running and finished trip.

Took it in to dealer yesterday for the 50 hour service and told him about the altitude problems. He called in to Polaris and the guy he talked to told him to reflash my unit and to have them tell me anytime I am above 6000 feet to let it idle for 30 sec. to a minute so the barametric sensor can adjust to the altitude. Otherwise it thinks you are at sea level, thus the flooding problem.

While in neutral and the ATV off, hold the overide botton and turn the key to on, don't start it. As soon as the diagnostic mode appears release the botton and now you can scroll through the diagnostic mode. I did it yesterday and it worked fine.

Default X2 flooding issue

I had the same issue this week with my X2 riding in the Breckenridge, CO area. At altitiude the machine would go into a fail safe mode running very rich, fouling plugs, and limiting RPM. Working with my dealer and Polaris there are two issues with the X2 and other 500EFI models at altitiude. The first requires a new software load for EMI computer. I had this done and continued to see issues at altitiude. The second is a connection issue with the MAP sensor. If the connection with the MAP sensor is lost at all the machine will go into this mode. There is supposed to be a service bulletin out next week on this one. By reconnecting the cable to the EMI computer, the issue went away. My understanding is the issue is supposed to be with the MAP connection. One other important note: The 500EFI needs about twenty seconds after starting to make measurements from the sensors and run properly. If you hit the gas before this is done the machine will run in rich mode and foul plugs, ie. run poorly. Good luck.

I have a 06 500 EFI. Every once in awhile it starts missfiring badly. To get it run correctly again, I take off the seat, take off the air box lid, and then press on the electrical connector to the MAP sensor. I beleive the Polaris parts name is "SENSOR-ASST PRESS". After doing this it runs fine again. Took me awhile, at first I thought it was an air leak, but after a few times of having to do this I finally figured out it was a bad connection. I have read of a couple of other folks that have had this problem. On off them said his delaer said one of the wires going to this sensor was broken, he repaired it and the machine ran fine.
Hopefully Polaris will have a fix out for this soon. I am waiting for it, as I know if I take it to the dealer now they will think I am crazy because it only does every once in awhile and I know the dealer does not have time to run the thing until it happens.

have 500efi build date june 5,06...... have all the problems listed. mine has had trouble from the first ride. that was at 8300 to 9300 feet. have tryed most all the things but the map sensor wire. am going to the flat tops wed. with a freind. will try the map sensor and see if it helps. have 20 hours now and am going to change oil today and try to look for any thing out of place. when mine runs it runs great or misses and hardly runs at all. no in between. also had been reflashed and had two differnt dealers look at it. hope map sesnsor wire works.
