Default X2 flooding issue

Hi guys. Wondering if anyone has had this issue.

I took the X2 over to Taylor Park (Colorado) this weekend. The altitude is around 10000 - 11000 feet. When I first start the machine it runs great but once I shut it down and try to restart it again a few minutes later the engine runs super rich and floods out...It has absolutely NO power and it misses really bad. I have to let it set for an hour or two before it will start and run normally again. If I try to shut it down and restart it again though the same thing occurs. I live in Colorado Springs which is around 6800 feet and I am not having these issues. Do you think the ECM need to be reprogrammed for higher altitudes? Not a good weekend as far as confidence in my machine is concerned

Had the same thing happen with my 06 500LE over Memorial Weekend at Pitkin. I would shut it off to check map/ GPS and start back up and at times it wouldn't pull even in low. SWMBO was following and said it was just like an old car with the choke stuck. Found that by shutting it off and then turning the key back on for a couple of minutes then it would run fine. When I mentioned it to my dealer (southwest Kansas) he asked if I had done the diagnostic check. Well at the time I was not thinking of that kind of stuff. So in a couple of weeks when we go back out I will be a little more prepared for it and now with a X2 going with us I will darn sure keep it in mind.

I think it has it in the back of the manual on what altitudes it is set to run at. Not sure if Polaris has something for higher altitudes as far as adjusting.

Johns have you put yours in diag mode? I tried following the instruction in the manual, but it does not go into diag mode.

Jim I will take a look at it. I sure hope Polaris would design the machine to run at all altitudes....I mean that is the advantage of FI right? I am starting to wish I had the carb model.....

No I haven't done the diagnostics test on either one of the machines yet. Mine ran fine the first 2 days then it started acting up but like I said, it was flooding out and I just pulled over and shut it off then turned the key to the on position for a couple min. and it ran fine from then on, even after shutting it off a time or two.

Did you try Cumberland Pass while you were at Taylor? We got stopped by snow (Memorial Weekend) within a couple of feet of where the snow was last year on the 21st of June. Just kinda wondering if more of the passes will be open (Tincup, Hancock, Tomichi) when we get out there on the 23rd.

To Slow do you have the number for weekenders? I would love to speak with a Polaris tech if I had a chance....

John's I called to Polaris dealer today. He spoke with someone there and they told him to tell me when I first start it at altitude to let it run for 1 minute to let the ECM adjust...I am skeptical if this is going to work, but I will give it a try....I'll let you know what happens.

I did not try Cumberland pass, but I did try Tincup....the pass was closed 3/4 the way up...blocked by snow. I am going there again in a couple weeks so I'll keep you poseted ion that as well....

cfwilkins, I tried for ever to get my 500efi into the diag mode until I posted here. I was not putting it in neutral. Put it in neutral then follow the directions, it should work.

I used my service manual not the owners manual. I don't remember if it said to put it in neutral or not. I don't have the service manual with me right now, but when I get home I'll look it up and post it.
