Default 95 sportsman 4x4 very very hard starting

Hi
I have a 95 sportsman 4x4 I rebuilt the carb then it ran fine for about a week it started when it was cold ran good etc..Then I was using it to tow a lawn sweeper arond the lawn the thing just died. We could not get it started for a couple days checked the oil it was full but topped it off anyways put in about a 1/2 cup it started right up.I don't know if that had anything to do with it but that is what happened.

Ever since then it is still very very hard to start when it is cold 70-90 degrees outside temp. It takes about 5-10 min cranking It always sounds like it wants to start, it keeps on hickuping but can never catch.Checked spark it does have spark. (don't know how good of spark but I seen it in daylight without no problem.I changed out the carb with another used one because the original was pitted on the inside was thinking maybe it had something to do with that but still the same thing. It never backfires or anything when it does not want to start it just sounds like it is trying but no luck.
When it does finally start it runs fine like nothing was ever wrong.Never sputters or anything when it does catch.

I thought maybe it was the choke but when it does catch and run if I put the choke on it will die so it seems like it is working right.

Is there any kind of sensors that could be going bad?
Still a carb problem?

Need some ideas...

Thanks

Michelle

Take the air filter off and spray gas into the carb from the intake, if it starts better,it's a carb problem if not , check the valve clearance, it could be your cam is wearing out or maybe it's getting low on compression.

Will check that out tomorrow when it is cold again again.

The compression is about 130

Well 130 psi is good. The 2 stroke has low miles compared to mine(4300) and it runs so I
say to try what kerbbirds says first and then figure something out.
