Great this is just what I needed. My strainer was trashed and pump frozen. I did not want to replace whole tank at $400+. Much appreciated!

To follow up, the replacement pump works GREAT! Was simple to change and a fraction of the cost of Polaris price. It was great for me that there was useful information in this forum, probably saved me $500.

Don't forget the strainer though... And clean your tank, my old strainer came apart and was all over the gas tank....

Fuel Pump: Airtex E8198 - $80
Strainer: Airtex FS111 - $5

Both available at Autozone (they had to order but only took a day to get there).

I put this on a Polaris 2006 Sportsman 500 EFI and it worked great!

My 05 700 efi camo had the same issue. It would run great till it got too hot them start stuttering till it pretty much died out. It took me a while before I figured it out. One day I took it for a long slow ride then got back home and let it sit and idle til it started acting up. Once it got hot enough and started stuttering then finally died, I poured some fresh cold gas in it and started it up. I t ran great. The problem is the header pipe is heating up the gas too much and causing it to vapor lock, or it just can't pump it. I installed an alluminum heat shield just above the header pipe to keep the heat away from the tank. I have not had a problem since. Next time it acts up try the same thing. Pour some fresh gas in, if it instantly runs great, thats probably the problem.

Good post.Heat can cause problems on fuel pumps. Plus don't forget to check the tank vent as it's routed down the steering post for any kinks that could cause a vapor lock condition along with changing the fuel filter at the front of the atv every two years as recommended.
