Default changed air filter

i just changed the air filter in my 500 sportsman for the first time (1999 sportman) just bought it a few months ago. was i supposed to wash the new one in gas or something.( it was just a stock polaris filter. it seems to be running rough since i installed it and it was a bit harder to start the first time after the install..

thanks i know this probably a stupid question

Where do you get the wash in gas thing from? There is no need to wash or put anything in gas.

You can wash your pre-filter in warm water if you want (or buy a new one).

Certain filters like K&N filters are washable, so you can wash them in a special solution and oil them again after washing.

Stock filter, just remove one, and put new one on.

you wash foam filters in gas, not paper ones. the one that came with your polaris is a paper filter silly!
