Default stand or sit

Hi gang.

After a decent run tonight I noticed I stand most of the time on the bike and my chum tends to sit. I was wondering what people choose and why.

For me I feel I get more stability over the polaris when I stand. I find it easier to steer while standing. Could it be possible that the ride is designed with a particular rider profile in mind???

Hmmm. I think I typically ride standing up when I am riding over some rought terrain, or jumping. When I am going fast, I lean back and make myself aerodynamic, or when it is just smooth. I think the reason I stand on rough terrain is because my legs act as like a second shock absorber. Just my opinion.

I mostly sit. 50% of the time I have my boy with me(hard to stand with a pass)we just take it easy. The other times I only stand about 25% of the trails.

I've noticed the difference with lots of people. I stand about 95% of the time I ride. I know for me it's much easier on my back. It allows me to move indipendantlly from the atv. I can do my best to throw my weight around to even out the ride. I have buddies that spend at least 50% of the time sitting. I notice that women, for the most part, ride sitting down too. I have to yell at my wife and daughter to stand when going over whoops and jumps. It's funny to watch them try to jump sittin down. They almost get bucked off every time.

Hey D,

I was sitting most of the time last night becase of the damn bugs!! That and for whatever reason I found the seat chaffing the inner thigh while standing ... weird .. never felt that b 4 !!

I stand sometimes for another reason too .. I find the bike much quieter when standing ...

Its up and down for me...mostly down though. I do find that I like to stand when picking through the rough stuff as I get better sight lines and control over the bike. I also like to stand up every once in a while on the smoother stuff just to stretch out a little. Other than that its sitting down enjoying the comfort of the Polaris ride.
