synthetic to regular oil change ??

JAy I worked for pennzoil for 12 years. That is a myth that you cant switch back. Just dont mix synthetic with regular. Synthetic is superior to regular oil and will protect alot better but now days oils are very good and as long as you change your oil when you are supposed to regular oil is just fine. The only time synthetic oil is not good is when being used on high mileage cars. Synthetic oil will tend to find places to leak alot easier than regular oils. Also bearing clearances on older cars expand as they age so synthetic oil cant cushion the bearings as well because it flows easier. Regular oils have parafins which is like wax. Parifins are not good for motors because it will gel in higher temperatures but thats how they make the viscosity of the oil. Synthetic is man made and they dont have parafins. It will not hurt to switch back. I use synthetic in everything I own except my Jeep that has 200k on it.

This discussion has been gone though many times. If you do a internet search you will come up with enough reading from the 4th thru labor day weekend!
In my humble opinion, the advantages of synthetic oil vs. fossil oils justify the cost!
