Default Predator Head Trouble

Well it happened Again.... My first Predator (2003) had a casting flaw from the factory, good thing it showed up before my warranty expired!!! All covered by Polaris!!! This time was different, had to have the valved adjusted twice will still under warranty (free of charge!) and after the second time with the smallest shims in it started to kill at idle and generally run like SH$T!!! Told my dealer to call Polaris to see if there was anything we could do, I was past warranty and had no more adjustment left to the valves. Polaris tells the dealer to ship the head whole to there R&D department and to replace it for me, all I had to pay for was Labor ($192.). The cost to polaris was $800. Someone at the factory didn't harden the intake valve seats... So if your Predator is hard starting or kills when idling that might be the thing to look for...

It really sucks when you have problems like that. It helps to ease the pain when the manufacturer steps up and takes care of it. Good on Polaris for doing that for you.

Hopefully that's the last problem you ever have...

mine is down again (see other posts) for those symptoms (and more tranny problems)... Hopefully not that problem though as this is an all new head. Everything in my engine except the crank shaft has been replaced since i bought it a year ago... and it's down again. (even the crank bearings... the crank shaft is literally all that remains of the factory engine/tranny). Nice of Polaris to foot the bill, but i'm still selling it as soon as i get it back. I'm sick of these problems. If Polaris makes a KTM pred i'll buy that, if they don't, i may be done w/ Polaris, not because the average Predator is not reliable, but because mine has been such a nightmare.
