Default Predator 500 reliability/longitivity?

i recomend finding an 04 or preferably an 05 TLD. the wide ratio tranny is good, but i prefer the close ratio, i feel i can get alot more use out of the power band, not to mention the first gear is excellent for climbing rocky hills that reqiure slow speed.

the TLD close ratio tranny was first introduced in 2005 along with reverse. if you pick up a TLD you'll also get Fox Podium X shox with piggy back resiviors in the front and a Podium X with a remote resvoir in the rear. these shocks are on par with Elka's when properly tuned

i love my predator, i wouldent trade it for anything (exept maybe a 07 Predator 525) ive ran it through everything but the desert and it has never let me down. ive gotten atleast 8 feet of air on mulitple jumps on mine and my suspension has never bottomed out and the landings were predictable and smooth.

all i can say,the 03 pred is the best one,the only thing is a fix in the tranny to cure the problems,
the 03 have very low rev limiter wich decrease his top end by much,
if you can break a pred, you probably can all break them through....

I had the tranny upgrade done to my 03 and two years ago Polaris covered the parts and I had to cover the labor. It was around $400.00. I dont know if Polaris will still cover the parts though, that would be something to look into for sure.

Predsporst500, Id love to have a chance to race you with my DS and make a believer out of ya

Isn't the reverse only on 05's and up? B/c if so I'd just have to settle for 03/04 without it b/c around here used 05's run $4500 to $5000, can't spend that much right now...Is it really worth wait until next summer for reverse when I could afford an 05?

No way, don't wait until next summer for reverse. Mother Nature has supplied reverse for me many times, it is called a hill. No hills? You probably need a little exercise anyway, get off and push! Actually, on my little Quadracer I just use my feet to roll the front wheels, but it has race cut fenders and weighs a tad over 300lbs too.

Yeah I didn't think so. I think I could manage without reverse b/c I don't use it much on my KQ during normal riding...only backing it out of my garage.
