Default 1996 Explorer 400 service

I have a 96 400 explorer that has 631 miles on it. The machine only gets used for plowing the driveway and during
ice fishing season. I need some info from you guys, first how and how often should I change the gearcase oil?and
also I was wanting to put a new set of tires on it. I was thinking about a set of 26" itp589 tires and will they fit on
the stock rims ? Thanks for any help

My '95 service manual says the transmission oil should be changed annually. After riding, I check mine and if it appears to have water in it (milky appearance). I change it right away.

The stock configuration for wheels on your machine should be 25x12x10 rear and 25x8x12 front. There are limited choices for the 10" diameter rear rims. The 589 is available in the 26x12x10 size but I'm not sure it comes in the 26x8x12 size. It does come in 26x9x12 but this is wider than the stock front tire and you should be careful about a wider front tire rubbing on the strut housing. It is also important to keep the front and rear tire diameters the the same.
