Default Sportsman 450 - Better Handling

All - (Need to change my alias name, to-do)

I traded in my AC 250 for Sportsman 450 a few months
back. I am really happy with the size, power, AWD capability
and smoother ride. Just now about 130 miles I am experiencing
HOT warnings and engine running issues. I have read previous threads
about a lot of RAD issues (Mud, dirt etc.) I will be tackling that today.
I have already cleaned/replaced air filter, pre-filter, checked RAD systems
fluid levels (all okay there). And picked up some tips on in-line breather
filter to check from Repair guide and on the way I go. Please feel free to
comment on tips and suggestions for me on this as I do not want to get
discouraged earlier on.

Anyways (sorry for the long thread) I want to increase my performance and
handling for better handling trails, rocks and mud. Does anyone recommend
any performance systems (Muffler/exhaust) for these utility Quad, what about
those spark plug elect. boosters for increased power? One more thing, I am
running the stock ATA286 Carlsie tires. (replaced one already) Would anyone recommend
better tires that would be more durable and better for grip/traction of mud, rock, all
purpose trailing tire. Thanks in advance everyone for your help!

you sure you cleaned the rad real good? if the mud packed in there and then dries w/ the heat of the rad it will make it over heat. as far tires i put stock ptx on the wifes and it does a pretty good job. when you do get after market tires either stay w/ stock widths on front or get an off set rim. not much room up front b4 rubbing on the strut.

Today I checked my in-line breather filter, I noticed that the arrow was pointed toward
the the air-filter box and away from engine. The repair guide says the opposite. I could
blow air thru it no problem on both ends. Not sure if this was the problem (probably not)
and if it really matters which way the directions are. On another note I took of the cargo
box off and had full access to my RAD and back behind the fan w/garden hose set there for a while
spraying and cleaning it. I must admin I did get more dirt and mud out but not in droves it was
pretty clear.

So it leaves me to wander if this mud in the Rad is my problem? Double checked my coolant
in the RAD (at top clear green) and in the reserve all good levels? Are there any typical computer/diag
issues that report HOT warnings when not really hot? Please let me know what other areas too, if you know.
I am still within warrenty maybe I should call my dealer. Also, where are those recommendations
on the performance hop ups?

Nice talking with ya's,
Yours truly!
