Hello people i live in uk and own a road legal polaris preditor 500 (03model) i have loss of power when opening throttle in mid range , basicaly it starts and runs fine but when you ride it and give it some throttle to get some speed or go up hill it just dies like you are running out of fuel ! you can only ride it very slowly , even on tick over you give it a hard rev and it just wont rev . no one in the uk has got a clue about these quads so i hope someone on here can help me . it has a full race exhaust , the air filter and spark plug are new but still does it . the problem started in town sitting in traffic with it getting hot , fan cutting in and out but getting very hot , then got out of traffic and went to accelerate but just wont let you have any power , any ideas , many thanks

well sounds like fuel starvation for whatever reason so check pump etc, especially jets etc for some blockage

what part of UK are you allowed to ride on roads? - dont think you can in Oz

 

You also have two small screens in the fuel tank. You will have to remove the fuel tank to remove the fuel pitcock to expose the filters.

 

so is one for "main tank" and one for reserve tank operation?

if that was so he could try to put on reserve and see if that helps

 

This is true, but I shouldn't have used the word filter. They are simply screens that can cloged up. When I owned my Predator I used a Banshee fuel pitcock, which had a larger outlet than the stock Predator and removed the fuel pump.

Thanks for replys guys will check out what you say and hopefully that is the problem ! could it be the spark plug coil loosing its spark as you rev it ?? as to which part of uk roads you can ride a atv on , any road you like as long as you road register your atv - fit headlight , indicators , horn , speedo , brake light and side lights(running light) you can insure it and ride where ever you want ! but not many atv on road riders here in the uk as to much traffic over here !!
