Here is what I say at my Polaris Ktab Forum
-------------------------------------------------------
Seems most folk just trade up when their Polaris is falling apart - but I ain't got any money so I just use what tricks I know to keep mine going
Here are some tricks for brakes and shocks
go to My Polaris below, go up top to JAlbum --> Polaris and --> Dirty Deeds
by all means leave a message in the forum if you wish [dont need to be a member]

i do both. fix it when its needed with what i can, but when i got an itch for a newer model or more power got to go for it. although if the new one is as what i think it will have to be my last new one for a long time.

From working on mine I get the idea it is like my 30 year old Volvo, ie well engineered and if you need to fix something it stays fixed [totally opposite to my experience with Brit cars eg Jaguar]
In those photos you might see the newly cleaned top of the dipstick for the sump [I didnt know there WAS one till I read about it here] and the oil was so clean it was very hard to see on the dipstick
So that gives me confidence that the dealer DID in fact do a proper service when I bought it
I asked him what sort of condition it was in and all he would say was "it went like the clappers, 80kph easy" so I was kinda concerned he just went for a joyride in back streets of Cairns

I'm a fix it myself kinda guy as well. A buddy of mine has a 600 SP that he never took care of and the Front gearboxt was completely trashed. I took it apart and cleaned everything up. Good as new. And the dealer wanted him to pay $800 for a rebuild! Looks like a crazy garage mechanic prevailed this time.

Hello TheDoc!
Do you mean that you have been here in Finland.
Yes that's true in northern parts of Finland the sun doesn't go down in three months, but only on summer times. Winter is very long and during December, January and half of February you cannot see the sun at all. In that time up there people eat their rein deers, drink and make new babies.[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif[/img]

It was at time of longest day so 24 hrs light and quite hot [was quite uncanny and magic]

OK, so here are some picture extracts from my life BIO - The Life of Brian
goto My Polaris below, then > JAlbums > My Travels > Sweden
looks like from the map we just went into top part of Finland, but it's a long time ago so dont remember if we did or not, but remember we turned around at Haparana or some such name
I know we passed a sign saying arctic circle - but it was 80 degrees !!!
