javjoe, go look at my pictures and you'll see one a part and the clip that holds the joint on the shaft. this is the rear inner joint on my 800 might be the same.

No snap ring is in there that I see. Where is it hiding? Is it under the star? There is
no recess area and no ball bearing hole bigger than any other.
A dealer told me to hammer it off with plastic hammer. It didnt come off
with 5lb sludge and it sure wont come off with plastic hammer.
It feels like a snap ring in there.. Its just got some kinda secret access..
Please help.

I found the picture you reference. Mine is different. The star that is affixed to axle is solid all the way around.
There is no recess as depicted in your photo. They went and changed it on hawkeye.
