Changing Plastic on a HO
#1
My dealer has too many green HO's. I don't especially like the green, except for hunting. I really like the silver. Since I can buy a complete set of silver plastic, I thought I could relieve the dealer of his "flooring" problem, get a good deal on the silver plastic and change the color when I wanted.
How long does it take? Is this going to be a pain, I have the time? Do I need an special tools?
Thanks

you do not need any special tools to change the plastic. You will need to take the handle bars loose and slide them through the front plastic to get the front off all of the bolts and screws are sae(american). You also have to take the headlight pod off too. The gas tank would have to come loose and maybe come out depending on how close of a fit it is. If you need any more info email me. I work at a polaris dealership so I do alot of this.

Hey Sport, why would you have to remove the fuel tank to replace body plastic on a Sportsman???
When replacing the rear fenders on a Sportsman get ready to fight with some heavy duty rivets. Starting about half way back the fender flares are riveted on. They’re at a weird angle to get at too. Drilling or grinding them out is the only way I’ve found that works and you’re going to sacrifice some plastic when those rivets heat up. If you’re going to do this and expect to be able to switch from one color back to the other, I would highly recommend you purchase rear fender flares along with your new silver plastic. Then you won’t have to destroy anything swapping flares. Also keep in mind that when you order new plastic it comes without decals (the %^&*!*! warning labels are on, but no decals). You’ll have to purchase whatever decals you want separately.
