Default Looking for help on 2004 700 EFI

It has been awhile since I last posted, since then, I have forgotten my password and changed e-mail addresses, so I had to start over. Anyhow...

My sportsman is running, but barely. It runs and idles really smooth, but as soon as I apply any throttle of 1/2 way, it sounds like your in reverse hitting the speedlimiter. This all started happening after a group and I traveled 100 miles to ride on some newly opened trails. Once we unloaded, I took mine across a field to open it up and can only get about 30MPH tops. Needless to say, I was disappointed as this is the first issue I have had with the motor on this ever. We finished riding that day (everyone waiting for me), but it did finish.

I figured bad fuel, air filter, fuel filter or something along that line. I had a 1/4 tank left, put some seafoam through it, changed both filters and put fresh gas in it. This did not fix it....I also checked the ETC today..but that is fine? Any suggestions from the wealth of knowledge on this forum?
Thanks

Since it is EFI it must be something in the computer mapping, have you looked thru the diagnostics on the speedo? Your book should tell you how.

I know you may have checked this already, but I had a similar experience with my 04 700 EFI and it turned out that one of my spark plugs had fouled and I was running on one cylinder. It may be a cheaper fix than having the dealer look into the mapping.??? I hope you find it. Good Luck!!!!!

I checked the EFI diagnostics and there are no codes. I will take out the plugs and look at the coils.

thanks

if you drove it 100 miles that way your oil must be full of gas. see if you have way over full on oil. if its running on 1 cyinder then it still would pump gas in it. i would think the computer would have shown a fault though.
