Sometimes steering on 1999 polaris sportsman 500 pulls hard to the right. Does it continously. I noticed the boot was broken. need help thanks

 

my dads magnum 500 pulled to the right heavy to and then next weekend the shaft broke so id check that

 

get your cv. boot fixed right away before your cv. joint gets damaged .also check your hub fluid and hillard clutch inside your hub for damage. sounds like your front right hub is locked in awd try and back up while turning your wheels left and right to see if your hub releases and it stops pulling in to the right in forward.

 

check hub fluid or better yet change it put in approximitley3oz that should get you close to the right level then turn fill hole to 4or 8 oclock position and make sure fliud is full to this height or if there is to much in hub let it drain to this level because to much fluid can cause problems also .

I replaced the boot and re oiled the hubs Put it back to gether and it works fine. Felt very stupid that I did not think to back up and get out of fwd. thanks very much for the info.

 

I dont remember saying thanks but you saved much in repairs. I will remember to take it out of fwd from now on. I seldom use it in fwd but one of my 2 grown kids put in fwd and I hadnt even noticed. I fixed the boot and reoiled which it needed any way. again THANKS

 

The man is a master. After ordering a boot and replacing it from directions from this site. I boarded the machine and it works great. Thanks to Plolaris Mech. I felt stupid for not thinking about backing up and releasing the fwd. good luck
